Jiwoo Kim

Ph.D. student at FAIR Lab, KAIST. I work on making robots perceive and reason reliably in the real world — through robust estimation, optimization, and spatial perception. The core question I keep returning to: how do we build systems that remain trustworthy when reality refuses to follow the model?

Research Direction

My work sits at the intersection of robust estimation, optimization, and spatial perception for robotic systems. I am especially drawn to methods that remain correct even when a significant fraction of sensor data is corrupted — outlier rejection, non-convex optimization, and the theory behind why some solvers succeed where others fail.
